The Society is a professional organization of Canadian artists practicing in the tradition of Classical Realism. Our artists are dedicated to the rendering of beauty and truth in traditional media. Espousing the academic spirit in Western art, Classical Realists are committed to producing aesthetically and intellectually meaningful images. Our artists believe that a keen understanding of the natural world nurtures creativity, and that creativity in turn must be tempered with discipline and honesty. Our picture-making will delight and instruct contemporary audiences and generations to come.

AIMS & PURPOSES

To promote awareness of contemporary Canadian artists working in the Classical Realist tradition

To foster an understanding of the Academic, Humanist, and Naturalist traditions in Canadian painting, and to continue to add to their achievements

To provide exhibition opportunities for all members in all categories of subject matter: Still Life, Landscape, Portraiture, Genre, and Imaginative

To provide educational and mentoring opportunities to other artists, novice or professional, in the technical aspects of Classical Realist painting
